QUEST
OCEAN EXPEDITIONS

From the tropical waters of the Caribbean to the icy reaches of the Arctic

Ski & Sail with S/Y Quest:
Summit to Sea in Arctic Wilderness
Set sail for an extraordinary adventure where the sea meets the snow. Onboard Quest, you’ll combine the thrill of skiing with the freedom of Arctic sailing, exploring fjords and glacier-carved peaks far beyond the reach of roads and resorts.
Guided Ski Touring in Remote Terrain
Every day brings a new summit. A professional ski guide leads you safely, selecting routes based on conditions and ability. Imagine climbing snowy ridgelines with sweeping sea views, then carving fresh tracks straight back down to the fjord. Around Svalbard, you’ll ski under the midnight sun, where glaciers spill into the sea and wildlife roams the coastlines. This expedition is designed for experienced ski tourers with a good level of fitness. Routes may involve steep ascents, variable snow conditions, and remote terrain, so prior ski touring experience is highly recommended.
Life Onboard
While you’re out on the mountain, our chef prepares nourishing meals to keep you fueled. Start the day with a hearty breakfast, take a packed lunch-to-go for the slopes, and return to the boat for a warm dinner. Expect a mix of Nordic-inspired dishes and international comfort food—simple, wholesome, and full of flavour.
Evenings onboard are relaxed: sharing stories of the day in the cozy saloon, unwinding with a glass of wine, or simply watching the Arctic light dance across the peaks.

Sample Itinerary – Ski & Sail Svalbard
Day 1: Welcome Aboard & Setting Sail
We meet at the dock in Longyearbyen. After settling into your cabin, you’ll get to know S/Y Quest, her equipment, and our safety routines. We cast off in the afternoon and sail a short distance to prepare for the next day’s ski adventure.
Day 2: Ski Touring in Outer Isfjorden
Today we explore the famous Isfjorden, home to fjord arms around Longyearbyen, Barentsburg, and Pyramiden. The surrounding mountains provide excellent ski terrain for all levels of advanced touring. After a day of skiing, we return to the vessel to relax and enjoy a delicious meal, before sailing northward to our next destination.
Day 3: St. Jonsfjorden & Forlandsundet
Heading north, we enter the Forlandsundet strait, surrounded by dramatic mountain scenery. Depending on weather and sea conditions, we may ski on the slopes of St. Jonsfjorden or, if calm, make a landing on Prins Karls Forland, a remarkable wilderness area. Evening brings sailing and a chance to enjoy the Arctic night aboard Quest.
Day 4–5: Kongsfjorden & Ny-Ålesund
Our journey continues to Ny-Ålesund, a research settlement at 79°N. The fjord system around Kongsfjorden offers glaciers and mountains perfect for ski touring. These days may include longer evening sails, as we aim to reach some of the most remote and spectacular terrain on the northwest coast.
Day 6: Sailing South
After several adventurous skiing days, we begin our journey south. The Arctic weather dictates our pace, giving us flexibility to explore or sail as conditions allow. This is a perfect day to relax, enjoy the scenery, and perhaps spot wildlife from the deck of Quest.
Day 7: Final Skiing in Isfjorden
On our last morning, we wake up at anchor in Isfjorden for a final ski tour. After a few morning hours on the slopes, we sail back to Longyearbyen.
Day 8:
Last breakfast onboard. We say goodbye to our newfound friends, and Quest!
Note: This itinerary is flexible and weather-dependent. Skiing locations and sailing routes may change to maximize safety and experience. All skiing is guided by a certified ski guide.
