From the tropical waters of the Caribbean to the icy reaches of the Arctic

Circumnavigating Svalbard
12 Days at the Top of the World
For those who want the ultimate Arctic voyage, our 12-day circumnavigation of Svalbard offers the rare chance to sail all the way around this remarkable archipelago. Beginning in Longyearbyen, we set out to explore not only the dramatic fjords and glaciers of the west and north coasts, but also the remote and seldom-visited east and south.
The east coast in particular is wild and less travelled, with broad glaciers spilling into the sea, drifting pack ice, and an untouched landscape that feels worlds away from civilisation. Sailing here often means encountering sea ice, walruses hauled out on lonely beaches, and perhaps polar bears patrolling the floes. The southern shores bring another contrast: sweeping tundra plains and bird cliffs alive with activity during summer.
Throughout the journey, our yacht becomes both home and expedition base. With flexibility at the heart of the itinerary, we adapt to conditions, ice, and wildlife encounters — allowing us to experience Svalbard at its raw and unfiltered best. This is not just a sailing holiday — it is a true Arctic odyssey, a chance to witness the full variety of Svalbard’s nature, culture, and wildlife over nearly two weeks of adventure.

Highlights
Exploration, Nature & Wildlife
With only a small group of six passengers onboard, Quest offers unparalleled access to remote fjords and ice edges. Every day brings the chance to encounter polar bears, walruses hauled out on beaches, Arctic foxes, reindeer grazing tundra slopes, and whales or seals surfacing beside the ship.
Shore Landings
Whether cruising beneath glaciers or landing ashore at abandoned whaling stations and trappers’ cabins, our excursions bring you face‑to‑face with a timeless wilderness. Landings are made at designated shore sites. Optional hikes deepen your connection to Svalbard’s rugged landscapes. Walk across tundra, cruise grand glaciers, and keep watch for walruses, reindeer, seals, whales, and soaring seabirds.
Flexible, Expedition-Driven Itineraries
Guided by ice and weather, our routes are designed to maximize wildlife encounters and breathtaking scenes—from the pack ice edge to hidden bays like Samarinvågen or Andréetangen, where walruses bask and seabirds teem.
Expert Knowledge & Onboard Enrichment
Each voyage includes daily briefings and lectures by our expedition guide — who illuminate the Arctic’s geology, ecology, and conservation challenges. Connect with the Arctic through guided talks, nature memories, and shared experiences. Learn the stories of explorers and scientific outposts as you sip hot tea against panoramic glacial backdrops.
Expedition Team & Hands-On Sailing
Discover the thrill of joining the crew in hoisting sails, navigating, and watch-keeping. You do not need to have prior sailing experience as our crew will guide you every step of the way, whether you want to be fully immersed or simply relax and just take in the view from the deck.
Chef-Prepared Cuisine
While you enjoy exploring Svalbard our onboard chef prepares three meals a day, inspired by Nordic traditions.

Sample Itinerary – Circumnavigating Svalbard (12 Days)
This itinerary is an example of a full circumnavigation of the Svalbard archipelago. Route and daily focus are shaped by weather, sea ice, and wildlife — allowing us to make the most of Arctic conditions.
Day 1 – Welcome to Longyearbyen
Arrive in Longyearbyen and board S/Y Quest. Meet the crew and settle in before departure. We sail into Isfjorden and anchor near the dramatic bird cliffs of Alkhornet, surrounded by Arctic light, seabirds, and open wilderness — a fitting start to the journey.
Day 2 – Prins Karls Forland & Poolepynten
We sail north along the exposed west coast between Prins Karls Forland and mainland Spitsbergen. This wildlife-rich area offers excellent opportunities to spot walrus, seals, and seabirds. A shore landing at Poolepynten brings us close to walrus haul-outs, observed quietly and respectfully. We continue sailing northward through expansive Arctic seascapes.
Day 3 – Kongsfjorden, Ny-Ålesund & Magdalenafjorden
Entering Kongsfjorden, the landscape changes to glaciers, steep mountains, and drifting ice. We visit Ny-Ålesund, one of the world’s northernmost settlements and an important center for polar research. Later, we continue north to Magdalenafjorden, one of Svalbard’s most iconic fjords, known for its dramatic scenery, icebergs, and historical sites.
Days 4–7 – Northwest Spitsbergen to Hinlopen
Over the coming days we explore the remote northwest and far north of Spitsbergen. Fjords such as Raudfjorden, Liefdefjorden, and Bockfjorden offer a mix of glaciers, tundra landscapes, and wildlife. Shore landings are made at designated sites, giving you the chance to step ashore and explore these remote Arctic environments up close.
We continue toward Hinlopenrenna, with possible landings in Sorgfjorden on Ny-Friesland and further east in Murchisonfjorden on Gustav V Land. If conditions allow, additional stops may include remote sites north of Gustav V Land, such as Snøtoppen or Chermsideøya. These days are defined by deep wilderness, flexible exploration, and quiet anchorages far from any settlements.
Days 8–9 – Hinlopen Strait & Nordaustlandet
We sail through the spectacular Hinlopen Strait, home to towering bird cliffs and rich marine life. Alkefjellet’s sheer rock faces rise directly from the sea, alive with thousands of nesting seabirds.
Continuing east, we follow the coast of Nordaustlandet, where immense ice caps and glacier fronts descend straight into the ocean — an overwhelming display of Arctic scale and power. We then turn south toward Barentsøya and Edgeøya, where landings and shore walks reveal stark tundra landscapes, wildlife, and traces of historic trapping life.
Day 10 – Hornsund, South Spitsbergen
We reach Hornsund, widely regarded as one of Svalbard’s most beautiful fjords. Sharp mountain peaks, active glaciers, and rich wildlife make this area a highlight of the southern archipelago. Time is spent exploring by boat and ashore before beginning our northbound sail.
Day 11 – Barentsburg
A visit to Barentsburg offers a striking cultural contrast to the surrounding wilderness. This Russian mining town is known for its Soviet-era architecture, Arctic history, and unique atmosphere — a rare glimpse into daily life in one of Svalbard’s permanent communities.
Day 12 – Return to Longyearbyen
We sail back into Isfjorden and return to Longyearbyen. Disembark after breakfast, carrying memories of glaciers, wildlife, and a complete circumnavigation of the Svalbard archipelago.
